Real Estate and Urban Development
Product Design in Architecture
Project Management
Urbanization and Housing
Individual Course of Study
This program addresses the need of design professionals to expand their design knowledge and become leaders in shaping the future of their fields. The program is very intense, allowing mid-career professionals to take a leave from practice or academia. Students have access to the resources of the Design School and Harvard University, enabling them to study and conduct research on the most recent developments in design.
The Master in Design Studies program is one year long and suits those who want to study a particular design area in-depth. Students explore their interests through course work, independent study, or an independent thesis, rather than through design studio courses. Students who seek advanced studio training should apply to the MArch II, MLA II, MAUD, or MLAUD programs.
In the stimulating environment of Harvard, enriched by the experiences of their fellow classmates, MDesS students increase their knowledge base and discover new areas, which have a positive impact when they return to their working environment.
